one day we teased the hell out of alyssa's hair. this was the result of our time.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
I love cheesy college bulletins. They make my world spin.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
We went to this cheezy inspired 50's diner, aptly called Happy Days.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
If Kim ever saw this picture, she would probably kill me.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
We decided to play Monopoly, Manhattan style. Yes, the things they come up with. During this game I decided to take personal portraits of the players.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Moneybags Karis, she owned almost everything and she ended up taking all our money.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Pretty A. She went to jail a lot.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Kim became personal banker after Alyssa was too busy watching the Stones on TV. I usually don't like scripted photos but look at her pretty nose ring!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Yes...we realize we are too cool for Brooklyn.

I have so many pictures that I have yet to post. I hate to be constantly updating so I'm trying to finish a layout for a website and then you could go there on your own discretion. I am taking an actual photography class this semester and I'm excited to be printing my own prints. maybe i'll like manual better -- we'll see.

Different Occassions. Different people. Same bowling alley.
Bowling is where it is at. I unfortunately never really do well at bowling as much as I like it though. Mostly just action shots and they speak for themselves. I thought I would update because I've been pretty crappy at doing that lately. Peace out.

Basically, the first two pictures are from this "sex toy party" that one of Sarah's coworkers had. A lady basically talked about them all and we tried out lipbalms and more adventurous people tried out the creams for their cooters. They had some cocktails and I got to be the blind desiginated driver. Overall, it was good time. We then went over to a local high school where my friends were raising money for cancer research. They played their songs while we just took pictures on the track. Mostly everyone in these pictures went to junior high with me (for the exception of the band, siblings and others). This ends my picture taking extravaganza. I am running out of time at the library.

Peace.

05/19/2005

I often wondered if I would have things/people to photographed once I got home, seems to be I shouldn't have fretted. My friends love smiling for the camera more than I can take their picture. Jojo and I didn't seem to like to take horizontal pictures, so here is our day..mostly our lunch date which later manifested itself into a shopping spree and she ended up buying a shirt I had. We will "accidently" wear it on the same day, one day.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
joanne, being herself.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
theres nothing like a chunk of shoulder, sometimes.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
I always have to be infront of a mirror. We didn't feel like waiting for a room.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Ghettoness becomes you, really.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Its never too early to pick out your July 4th outfit.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
It was so cheesy, I had to post it.
</center>

Later that night, I met up with my BFF from 5th grade to do what we usually do a couple of times of the year. We meet up and get reacquainted with each others lives. Its really easy to jump back in to something without drama and it just feels so comfortable. I've known Sarah since I was 10. Meggie and Mike since I was 12. Jeremy...well I met him late in life at 17...but Ive still known these people more than your average stranger. So the night wasn't awkward at all, and thats what I strive for...not awkward moments.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
pretty much self explanatory, this is sarah, talking in a chair.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
jeremy and meggie, I think she has the best facial expressions.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

mike and sarah. he's pointing because i guess he's not used to a camera in his face.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
cutest smoker ever? perhaps.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
meggie and sarah infront of Rave Motion Pictures. I love that theatre. Tis pretty.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Just look at Meggie.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Same caption as before.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Mike took this picture, nice.

So, that has been Ohio thus far. I had more pictures to show but I only have 4 more minutes left on the internet. I feel at home here, yet I am searching for something that doesn't really exsist. "Its like a photograph of yourself, taken from far far away, and I won't know what to do. I won't know what to say."

Ohio. [19 May 2005|05:24pm]
I am no longer familiar with the concept of time. i took these images.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
if i ever become really rich, i can't wait to put my name on the side of my plane.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
who stole the cookies from the cookie jar? was it you, colin?

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
he was obviously meant for the stage. colin meloy, lead singer of the decemberists.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
She is only a woman of flesh and bones, but I would like to be her. She is mega-talented and I was super jealous of her skillz. Jenny Lewis from Rilo Kiley.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
i got a new shirt, so i obviously had to take my picture in it.

life without the internet hasn't been too hard thank you to the public library here in my local town. they have eased the pain, and i have learned how to adjust with my 45 minute blocks of time. If the cable company allows me, ill probably just sign up for 3 months and once again pester you with my constant updates. hope you cuties are doing well.

peace.

[ music | i think we're alone now + tiffany ]

May 1st to May 11th 2005

This entry includes Kim's birthday and Moving Out day. The month of May has gone by so quickly, well at least these first 11 days have. I feel so happy and sad at the same time. It has been such a great ride and I am one lucky girl. Here are some pictures of my month of May.

the lovely kim poses with matching cup. she fills it up to the rim with water soda wine.

2/3 of those kids have a piercing. Barb, Mackie & Amy come to the room to celebrate.

The party was moved from 707 to a local bar named T.J's. Its mostly a drama kids bar and the night we went was Karaoke night. Fun was about to ensue, but to truly be able to belt out songs, some people needed liquid courage. While others had the beat inside of them.

2/4ths of my best friends here at Pace. Francesca and Karis both equally interested by their cell phones.

kim was definitely tipsy by the time this picture was taken. since her birthday was announced from the t.j "stage", she had been getting free drinks all night.

Yo, Give it up for Kimberly Rose...my roommmate! They are singing to Tiffany, and damn did they do a great job!

7th floor kids. Right after this, Kim toppled over. Ok, so I lied.

The essence of Karis, dancing with no cares to 80s songs.

3 of my favourite people at Pace.

Just proof that I had been there...but of course, my eyes are closed. ITs just impossible to keep them open.

I had a blast at Kim's party. We will never forget our times in the bathroom and how the sink was broken and fleeing from the scene. Ahhh good times. Fast forward 1 week later and you find us at Mangia...Bene Something. A restaurant in midtown who is known for their fun ways of celebrating birthdays...or something. All I know is that they had really good Penne Vodka and I took pictures. Onward!

Good time had by all at the goodbye dinner .... John most likely said something really funny.

Ive slept on both their beds and I got a nice slumber on both. :D Spread the word.

My future roommate of forever...coloring while enjoying a nice martini. Just like the old days.

Essence of Kim Rose

Francesca at her finest, hahahah I don't know why she is making this face.

I guess I can just say I can capture people well. The essesence of John Mason, man who was left by his runnaway bride. I don't know what he is doing here either. Hmmm.

Karis & I and proof that I was there. Damn my eyes, they never open.

Kim was too busy to look over...thats ok. We like the picture better this way.

We had a blast that day. I remember that we had to take the subway back because we ran out of money. Kimberly had the urge to dance so with one ipod earphone she danced along on the A train while fellow riders just sat in their seats living their mundane lives. I remember thinking that this is something they would probably tell their friends or significant other back at their apartment. I tend to have a really good imagination.

Moving Day was yesterday. By far, one of the most depressing days of my life, but it also carried along with it a sense of accomplishment. I am done with my freshman year of college, and I couldn't of ask for a better time. I wish that we had more of a "campus feel" but with New York City as your campus, that was pretty amazing. Here are some things about moving day.

One of my first friends at Pace, Mariana and Marta talking about how to move all our crap out of the building. I am going to miss Mariana so much, but at least she is living only one floor away. I love her.

Filling up the car quite tightly. Francesca was moving in with her cousin in Harlem/Bronx. We were in for quite an adventure. Hey, thats my car! I drove to the city the day before because we had quite a task at hand.

Manhattan Bridge as seen from the FDR.

Are we there yet???

Karis was somewhere behind this box.

I am being a focused driver. I am seeing signs and going....I See You Sign. I am assessing the situation! I Love Dane Cook.

Dirty sidemirror but if you squint you can kind of see Karis in the backseat of the car.

That ended our phototaking spree of the roadtrip. We sang to 80s songs that I stole from Karis' computer and the definite highlight was singing to cotton eye joe at the top of our lungs or calling kim when we thought of her. I could never have imagined having such great people in my life, and I'm am so greatful for everyone I met. Theres a couple of people who I didn't get to take their picture yesterday, they also have affected me so much like Maribeth and my RA Heather. I am excited for what the future holds.

This is Brittany and I. Probably only 2 pictures of us together that exsist, but this one is definitely my favourite. I wish she stayed at school because I enjoyed sharing my room with her, even though I was a slob. Goodbye to you, and to my freshman year.

The end.

i like cowboys
i had some free time at my grandmas, so i took a picture of me in a cowboy hat.

my grandma is the cutest
my bff in her cowboy hat. she looks better in it.

birthday hats are not as cool as cowboy ones
cowboy hats > birthday. i was at a birthday bash for one of my cousins, christian.

i like cake
he turned 25.

good friends making a second cameo appearance with john mason. BEST PICTURE EVER AWARD.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
fran and sean (funniest accent ever) becoming ipod friends.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
this is forever the essence of karis in my mind.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
heather (my RA) and maribeth posing as new york care volunteers. i got that cool t-shirt too!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
i went to a rockshow on friday night. this is the crotch of leadman from Ambulance Ltd. Northsix.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
i took my dad to brooklyn to show him the neighborhood and made him pose infront of things.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
only in new york will you see a man decked out in his silver gear.

april 9th to april 17th

its pretty much one picture per day type of thing. i wonder if i should just post one image a day. we'll see. i've been going to brooklyn a lot these past few days because that is where i am living next year. it is absolutley wonderful. I'm living in Brooklyn Heights and theres dogs as big as horses and little kids with happy squeals and just plain life, something you don't see usually in downtown, new york. We also get a free gym membership to Eastern Athletics and they have a pool which parties will be going down. That will be fun, I will need to get a watercamera, but all is possible in this day and age.

school is drawing to a close and i am wondering what will become of this photolog. some 20something days to go, and i will say that it went faster than it should have.

till next time,
mgo

april 5 to april 7th

this is what i have been doing the last couple of days. life has been more hectic than usual, thanks to the sun and its rays of light. i don't know what to say, nothing inspires me anymore(Kindl). hahahha. I can't even make up my own words. Just enjoy the next pictures, just as much as we enjoyed living them.

I like to begin the day by freaking my friends out and sticking my camera in their faces.

This picture just yells, "Best Friends." Thats what they are ladies & gents.

they were most likely laughing at my hysterical jokes. what can i say? i'm pretty damn funny. not.

We decided to go to SoHo and enjoy the wonderful weather and enjoy the sales that are always going on. It seems to always be John, Francesca, Karis and I. I'm perfectly content with that, though.

Francesca waited as we all got ready to leave.

john mason rocking my glasses while making final plans on where to meet.

while my friends were down with the harajuku style, i just took self-portraits in the vendor mirrors.

if you ever see karis dance, you have witnessed one of the best things in your life, she totally just got advanced printing of the best yet to be book!!!

On July 16, my future roommate, Karis will be at the SoHo Scholastics Store in line for her book. Thats where all the crazytrue fans will be. She will be giving out autographs from 10-11pm.

my friends being stylish babes down broadway. karis would like to point out that her ass looks good in this picture. thank you and goodnight. that was april 5th. <3

April 6 is pretty much self-explanatory. I will only give necessary commentary.

kim & i walked all the way to VICE to get a free magazine. From the financial district to prince & lafayette. it was a nice walk but she was on the phone a lot. jk.

In 8th grade, i would wear this shirt like all the time.

walking back we ran into these fools, yeah thats fran wearing my glasses.

Alyssa is the epitome of spring, fully displayed here. She works at the MET, she will teach me the perl stitch!!! I'm excited.

That day was the open house in the Brooklyn dorms and Kimberly, Amy & I waited for the bus to take us.

One of my favourites of all time was on the shuttle, it was the amazing Bradley

my friends and i went to visit erika, who which some of you might know goes to NYU. We walked from the Financial District to Waverly & Broadway, yeah that is love. Anyway, this is what we did while we waited.

my friends are cute kids.

this is an ad for the youth of new york in the spring time.

a portrait of mariana, looking wonderful.

portrait of fran. as you can see, erika took the longest time to get back.

kids at tasti delight!

two of my favouritest people standing together! oh my lord!

i like to break the law, everynow and then.

Alex will no longer have lonely nights.

Lately, the spring has been what I honestly thought college was going to be like. The closeness of just hanging out with friends and just lounging, shopping, eating, living and breathing. Everything will eventually change in the future but now, if i could capture this moment in a bubble, it would be my definition of perfect. As much as I want to be done with school, I don't want to leave these people. I will return back to Ohio, to our former selves and have to somehow adjust to this new/old sense of reality. It just seems so warped to me, and some will adjust faster than others. I just hope to survive it all.

i haven't updated in a while and my picture taking spree has been put to a halt since i hardly take my purse anywhere. this makes a lot of sense because my purse is where my minolta lives and collects dusts while i do not use it. in this series there will be pictures from easter sunday dinner, rhode island, and just plain hanging out. there will be no captions because there is not a cohesive element that strings these photographs together, other than the fact that i took them. i will begin photojournalling as soon as possible.
thank you for understanding,
m. gomez.

west 12th street. easter sunday.

When I become a famous photographer this will be known as my 1988: Subway Series. Yeah, it as pretty cool going back in time and taking these pictures when I was 2. I guess I was talented back then as well. I love these pictures and maybe when I have my art gallery they might be in black & white. No commentary was needed. Just the awesome images. If anything, I think I have a knack at taking portraits of people, maybe I should open a senior picture studio!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
of course i closed my eyes! i don't even try anymore.

Sorry, I didn't even do commentary that well. I guess I wasn't really into it tonight. I will be taking a week hiatus called : Spring Break. I don't know if I will update because my plans include just sleeping a lot and going to costco and perhaps meeting up with Karis and driving around. Its not really solid yet. Have a wonderful Spring Break and don't drink too much green beer on Thursday.

Jubilee, cooking and broken cigarettes )

Everyone knocked out around 4am. Karis & I are the only real champions who were able to sustain longevity throughout the night and stayed up talking outside. Turns out we are both photography fiends and will make our own studio and take candid pictures of the world. I know you are jealous. I then watched In America while I waited for breakfast to open at 8am. I broke night and saw the sunrise. I've been feeling really good and kind of lost lately. I am positive that there is a correlation there somewhere. I'll look for it later. I hope you have a lovely day.

March 8th 2005: Drag Queens + Cameras [09 Mar 2005|11:35am]
[ mood | tired ]
[ music | Criticism as Inspiration + Pedro the Lion ]

Image hosted by Photobucket.comBefore I even start out on yesterday's photo day, I have some terrible news to share with you. One of my favourite loves of all time is getting married. Little Zac Hanson, drummer of Hanson and writer of my favorite Hanson song Lucy, is engaged to be married. Dude, he's 19 and the girl isn't even knocked up. Why are you doing this? Oh well.

There isn't a real transistion so on to the day of drag! It all began at 4am, and the only person that was awake was my love Karis. Everyone else apparantly had a normal sleeping schedule on monday nights. Monday nights = Party nights, when you don't have classes on tuesday.

Drag bingo, female condems, Sweet the Queen.... )
</center>

I ended up winning nothing but an orange soda and weird hug from a drag queen. It was alright though because that is what I deserve when I can't recognize Madonna's song , Like a Prayer. I learned in Psychology that I was probably suffering from performing anxiety, or in reality I was just spaced out on mushrooms. To win the $500 dollar prize you had to give a lap dance to the other drag queens that were there, and the winner was a girl I knew. Congratulations Kim! Your floor was really supportive of you and I hope that you buy them all marshmellow Peeps and pocket the other 487 dollars. I then slowly made my way back to my room where I didn't pass out again until 5am. I need to break this cycle soon or else I'm going to slowly kill myself.

I have to go write a psychology paper before I meet with my group later tonight.....wee!

March 7: I was bored on a Monday night. [08 Mar 2005|02:21am]
[ mood | creative ]
[ music | Red Right Ankle + The Decemberists ]

i really liked this monday, but that is the exception since i really don't feel much for it most of the time. 9am mornings really don't suit me but the day had its ups!

i went to visit maribeth at her job today. she works at the art gallery located in the student union. she was all lonesome.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
she was working on her super sweet screenplay.

This is my RA Heather. She is the bomb! ba dum psh.

In between the previous pictures and the following I went to a couple of classes, ate lunch, visited some friends, slept, watched tv, got dressed, went to psychology, ate dinner, and then i was bored (run on paragraph). So I decided that I would do what I normally do back home when I am bored....try to make something. My resources were limited but over the weekend I bought shirts at A.C. Moore and I began a journey. The following pictures document the obvious.

yes, evfryday is earth day. i ran out of "e's" but i think it gives the shirt character. I realize that I "painted" on the water and continents but its too late to change that now. Overall, I had a pretty good day. I mean..who many people get to see this view (below) when they are just sitting at their bed? No one!

orange juice & pinapple! yum!

March 4-6 : I don't know if I like March. [07 Mar 2005|02:40pm]
[ mood | lethargic ]

my hands are wrinkled and old

i like to bite my fingernails. i have stopped trying to let them grow or paint them, mostly because that takes effort and apparantly i am not so good at that. Most weekends I spend them in New Jersey, so I have no exciting pictures of other peoples lives. I sometimes buy canvases and then i paint. what comes out isn't always pretty (in fact, it hardly ever has been pretty) so i give them away as presents. sorry if you own one. ha ha.

i call it, "3 generations" and i gave it to my grandma.

this was apparantly the big storm that was going to cause ravok on the city. it turned out to be a pansy.

the brooklyn bridge does seem congested though, sorry commuters.

my cousin keila on the phone.

we were drinking coffee and i was taking pictures of cups.

some people are just wannabe photographers and others are the real thing.

we had to walk home and it looked lovely.

Feb 28, 2005
Through the speakers you heard a man say that classes had been canceled from 4 P.M. on. Apparantly it was going to be a great snowfall from 8-10 inches and commuters were advised to go home. The storm didn't accumulate more than 3/4 inches by the end of it. I was thankful classes were cancelled because I honestly never feel the need to go to Psychology. My cousin was working in Battery Park and decided to stay the night in the dorms. One of the worst nights ,sleeping wise but I had fun having breakfast with her. I showed her the ways of a dorming college student but she refused to wear her PJs to the cafeteria. Her loss. I slept until 3pm and then went with a friend to the Seaport.

For some reason, I think it is nice to meet not only the people to the left and right of you, but also the people who live below you since they know when you stumble across your room at night. Hence the beginning of a friendship, with me living on 807 and Francesca and Kim living on 707. I didn't get any pictures of them last night that would be suitable for all audiences (naked pictures) so I bring forth to you their facebook pictures.

francesca kim

they are lovely and they know it. after a rendezvous at the newly renovated student union, we piled into their room as people do.

is this tacky? wearing socks with flip flops? all i knew was that i wanted to keep my socks on and not wear shoes. i guess i am just lazy.

This is John, his name was put in the newspaper without his consent. That's some bad journalism. Shame on you, Pace Press.

karis is one of the funniest people i know, she was showing off her ringtones or something.

The 707 gathering broke up as many of these people had friday classes or papers that they needed to write or beds to sleep on. A video of some off-tune singing was shot but for the sake of others it will not be posted. All I must say is that there is some talent here at Pace University for singers who are infatuated with the 80s.

I ended up falling asleep from 3am to around noon. So nothing of substance to really report on that. I had a date with a friend at 3pm to meet her at her dorm in the East Village. The following happened...

Meet Erika. She isn't usually like this but I think we might have been having a photoshoot. I don't have any candids of her today so this will be the photograph in which you judge her by. She is in my webshots if you want a closer look. She goes to NYU and we have been friends since freshman year. She is one of my favourites.

We actually did a lot, I just forgot to document it for journaling purposes. Before I jump to the next photo...Erika and I shopped in Herald Square (34th street), ate at Sammy's (this amazing chinese/thai place), played Weezer Jam Session, had a sleeping contest and ran into The Guy from the Mary-Kate and Ashley Movie: Paris, and dorm hopped.

This is Leo, a friend of Erika's from high school. He was talking to his hot friend Inga and giving her directions on how to come to his dorm. "Yeah, I live on 5th Avenue."

While Leo went to pick up his friend from the lobby, we patiently waited on his polluted bed with an assortment of clothing scattered genrously throughout the twin-sized bed. It was pretty hot.

Erika played guitar to pass the time.

Introducing Inga! Leo's lost long friend reuniting in the best city on earth. While they spoke Erika and I wondered what their babies might look like. Leo pondered whether they were related or not.

They are not related! This is the face of a happy man.

Don't mess with those gangster azn's, they'll come and rip your head off. All while being as charming as can be. Nathan and Erika.

I made my way back to my dorm at around 4:00 am. I spent a total of 12 hours with Erika, but she is one of those people you don't really get sick of. I hailed a cab which set me back $8 dollars, but its a small price to pay for your safety. Besides, who takes the subway that late anyway. When I was coming in, a couple of my friends were in the lobby and I escorted them to the 7th floor. What was waiting was a magical fort put together by both boredom and the feeling of going back in time, when making forts and having sleepovers were magical. It turns out they still are.

there was a lovely rainbow umbrella in the magical 7th floor lounge where a meeting of their sorority had just ended. the KNTs are lovely people. pronounced CUNTS. ;D

The fort in all its glory.

Seventh floor kids sharing stories of their night. Karis, Barb and Amy.

Valerio is the 7th floor RA, and he is not allowed in the KNTs fort.

All in all...everything that starts on the 7th floor...ends on the 7th floor eventually.

the end

love,
m. gomez
